About Us

Fostering Classical Music Since 1891

Founded in 1891 by 22 classically-trained women musicians, the Ladies Musical Club is Seattle's oldest arts organization still in operation. Our original mission was to cultivate an appreciation of classical music in the cultural life of a city that was just starting to find its identity.

Today, we continue this 130+ year tradition by fostering classical music in the community through Education, Performance, and Awards. We do this by offering music and educational programs to people of all ages and diverse backgrounds throughout the community.

Our Programs

Find out how we're promoting classical music in the Pacific Northwest and across the country

LMC's mission to foster classical music in the community is done primarily through three mainstay programs: Our national Frances Walton Competition, our Music In Schools program, and our free Public Concerts Series. Each touches all three pillars of LMC's work: education, performance, and awards. These programs cultivate classical music amongst our members and to the greater Seattle-area community.

Board of Trustees

Our board is responsible for leading and directing our organization, and ensures that our plans are inline with growing classical music appreciation in the Pacific Northwest and United States. The Board of Trustees consists of both long-time, established members of our club, and members who have recently joined our ranks. Each position is held for two years and is elected in June. Here's our current 2025-2026 board:
